Urmila Matondkar, known more for her pouts and mini skirts, is an intensely private person. But, in one of those rare instances, the actress opens up and says, `I am very close to my family. In this profession, where fake people constantly surround you, the importance of a family becomes primary. Luckily, I am still the same person despite the stardom, and at home nothing has changed. I am treated the same way as I was many years ago, to the extent that sometimes I feel my family is a bit too cool.
They don`t seem to be impressed by anything I do. They`ve never lavished praises on me for any of my performances, and when outsiders do so, they look genuinely surprised.` Urmila is very close to her sister, whom she calls her `soul sister`. `She just got married and I am a bit lonely at home, without her. I was used to her presence in the house, and we`ve always been together wherever we went,` she sighs. Urmila continues, `Anyway, now that she has shifted to her new house, which is close by, we are all the time hopping into each other`s homes. Her in-laws are like family to me because she is married to my best friend`s brother.`
Not many people know that the actress has an elder brother, Kedar, who is an Air Force pilot. `It`s an old habit with me not to divulge more information than necessary, particularly about my family. I have become cautious over the years.` Urmila insists that at heart she is a simple Maharashtrian girl, who leads an uncomplicated life, and after a tired day`s work likes being with her family.
